Lami holds a BSc and MSc Economics degrees both from the University of Lagos. He started his career with the law firm of M.O. Awoyemi & Co. as an analyst in the firm's corporate finance practice. His core investment banking career began at Meristem Securities Limited from where he later moved to the International Energy Insurance Group (IEI). 

He was involved in capital raising and transaction structuring activities running into billions of dollars while working at Meristem Securities Limited and IEI. He left IEI to lead the Advisory Services department of GTB Asset Management Limited- the erstwhile investment banking subsidiary of Guaranty Trust Bank Plc. (now Investment One Financial Services Limited). 

Prior to joining Aquila Asset Management, Lami was Group Head, Investment Banking Division at a prominent boutique investment banking outfit with offices in Lagos and Dubai and was responsible for charting the course of the firm's Investments & Advisory practice. His varied expertise spans Business and Financial Advisory, Debt & Equity Capital Raising, Strategic Planning, Business Process Reengineering and Project Management.
